About this role
Benchling seeks a highly experienced Software Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority for the Lab Notebook and Enterprise Lifecycle teams, architecting and delivering critical platform systems that power scientific data capture and compliance workflows for regulated biotech environments. You'll own complex, multi-quarter initiatives spanning frontend UI to backend infrastructure while driving engineering direction across the Applications division and mentoring peers.
What you'll do
- Architect and implement systems for the Lab Notebook, structured data-input, and enterprise lifecycle (audit, approval, export, backup) components
- Lead large multi-quarter initiatives from ambiguous requirements through iterative delivery and scale across enterprise customers
- Set technical direction and raise engineering standards across the Applications division through code review and architectural guidance
- Design solutions for regulatory compliance, FDA submissions, and GxP-regulated workflows
- Evaluate and integrate AI/LLM opportunities to enhance data capture, audit reporting, and compliance
- Partner with product, design, and cross-functional teams to translate customer and regulatory needs into technical solutions
