Blissway
Embedded Systems Engineer, Recent Graduate
About this role
Blissway seeks an Embedded Systems Engineer (recent graduate) to design and harden roadside hardware for tolling systems deployed across US highways. You'll own the full lifecycle—from PCB schematics and CAD design to edge firmware and manufacturing optimization—ensuring 99.9% reliability in harsh outdoor environments. This is a hands-on role in a lean 30-person startup combining deep tech, AI/ML, hardware, and IoT.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize schematics, PCBs, and housings for solar-powered roadside units with cell connectivity and high-speed sensors
- Write firmware and edge software (Python, C/C++) that bridges hardware constraints with system requirements
- Conduct reliability hardening of power systems and connectivity to achieve 99.9% uptime in extreme weather conditions
- Lead CAD iterations in Onshape to improve assembly yield, weatherproofing, and field serviceability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on hardware-software integration and troubleshoot issues using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Support outdoor deployment and long-term maintenance of production devices across the Interstate Highway System
What they're looking for
- Embedded systems design and firmware development
- PCB schematic capture and layout (Altium)
- Hardware CAD modeling (Onshape)
- Python, TypeScript, and/or C/C++
- Linux and IoT edge device development
- Hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Edge computer vision and sensor integration
- AWS or cloud infrastructure basics
Benefits
- Relocation support and signing bonus to Denver office
- Personalized health coverage (ICHRA monthly allowance for individual/family plans)
- 401(k) matching up to 4% with competitive equity package and annual tender opportunities
- 4 weeks untracked PTO, 12 weeks paid parental leave, and 12-week paid sabbatical every 5 years
- Company-sponsored life and disability insurance
- Daily team lunches and snacks at the Denver office
