Software Engineer, Reconciliation & Reporting
About this role
Square is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Reconciliation & Reporting team, where you'll build and maintain critical systems that reconcile global payment flows, process settlement data from major card networks, and power financial reporting at massive scale. You'll own end-to-end projects involving data pipelines, regulatory compliance systems (including 1099 generation), and financial accuracy tooling that directly impacts trust in Square's payments platform.
What you'll do
- Own well-scoped projects end-to-end: design, build, test, ship, and operate reconciliation and reporting features with guidance
- Build and maintain ingestion and reconciliation pipelines that match card-network and partner reports against internal transaction data
- Develop reporting features for merchants and internal finance teams ensuring accuracy, reliability, and scalability
- Contribute to large-scale tax and regulatory reporting systems including IRS 1099 forms and international compliance regimes
- Support compliance obligations including AML, KYC, and secure handling of PII data such as TIN validation
- Debug and escalate production issues, providing clear context on changes and risk assessment
