Software Engineer, VCU (Vehicle Control Unit)
About this role
Bot Auto seeks a VCU Software Engineer to design and deliver production-grade embedded software for autonomous truck control systems. You'll own the full lifecycle from requirements through field validation, combining vehicle-control fundamentals with disciplined C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and AUTOSAR development across simulation, bench, and vehicle environments.
What you'll do
- Design VCU software architecture, define requirements, state machines, and fault-handling strategies with end-to-end traceability
- Develop application software in MATLAB/Simulink and embedded C/C++, implementing vehicle modes, torque coordination, power management, and drive-by-wire functions
- Integrate AUTOSAR Classic components (ASW, RTE, BSW, MCAL) and external ECU interfaces while optimizing real-time performance
- Define and execute MIL/SIL/HIL test strategies, automate CI/CD workflows, and support bench/vehicle integration and diagnostics
- Build Python-based tools for logging, calibration, monitoring, and data analysis to improve engineering efficiency
- Collaborate across controls, hardware, systems, and validation teams; contribute to design reviews and coding standards
