Forward Deployed Engineer
About this role
BRINC seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with public safety customers, installing and supporting drone-based 911 response systems while debugging issues across hardware, firmware, and software. You'll bridge field operations and headquarters engineering, traveling 90% of the time to multi-week customer deployments and rotating back to Seattle for product improvements.
What you'll do
- Deploy onsite for multi-week engagements to install, configure, and commission drone systems, robotic nests, controllers, and LiveOps software into 911 operations
- Support live operational flights including pre-flight testing, briefings with contingencies, and post-flight debriefs with customers and BRINC teams
- Triage and debug cross-stack issues (software, firmware, hardware, networking, RF) under operational time pressure and drive to root cause
- Implement, test, and deploy code and configuration fixes on-site, then upstream changes to the mainline product
- Serve as primary technical liaison between customer and HQ engineering, translating field observations into bug reports and feature specifications
- Maintain FAA Part 107 certification, deep product expertise, and participate in 24/7/365 after-hours support rotation
