About this role

Cartesian, an MIT-founded startup, is seeking a Software Engineer to scale their spatial intelligence platform for retail inventory visibility. You'll own major backend features across APIs, data systems, and ML infrastructure while working in-person in Cambridge with a technical team.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement scalable, cost-effective backend systems and features across API, data, ML, and DevOps platforms
  • Own major features end-to-end from ideation through production deployment
  • Contribute to engineering best practices, technical roadmap planning, and team culture
  • Build reliable web services and intuitive APIs using Python and modern frameworks
  • Optimize database queries and develop efficient data pipelines for large-scale datasets
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure management
