About this role
Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks an R&D Test Engineer to design and build innovative fluid systems for research test stands, primarily supporting magnet testing. You'll work across diverse fluid types (cryogenic, molten salt, supercritical, etc.) on projects ranging from small-scale analysis to large complex systems, while collaborating cross-functionally to advance fusion energy technology.
What you'll do
- Design and develop fluid systems for R&D test stands with focus on magnet testing applications
- Commission and operate test systems, troubleshooting and optimizing performance
- Collaborate with test engineers, software engineers, and operators on system automation and controls
- Source and integrate both commercial off-the-shelf and custom hardware solutions
- Support SPARC and ARC projects from concept through implementation on tight timelines
- Work cross-functionally with production, procurement, and other engineering disciplines to mitigate technical risks
