Software Engineer (Libraries Platform)
About this role
Chainguard seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead the architecture and implementation of the Libraries Platform—a secure, scalable factory that continuously builds, verifies, and serves hardened open-source libraries across multiple ecosystems. You'll own core platform components, build automation for vulnerability remediation and patch generation, and operate shared services that power both internal teams and external customers.
What you'll do
- Design and implement core platform services, pipelines, and package indexes for secure, reproducible builds across Java, JavaScript, Python, and AI/ML ecosystems
- Build automation for artifact creation, vulnerability scanning, remediation workflows, SBOM/provenance generation, and policy enforcement
- Develop AI-assisted patch generation and validation systems to automatically create and verify security fixes
- Build and operate shared services including package indexes, registry mirrors, metadata services, and orchestration tooling
- Create internal developer tools and CLIs (primarily Go) to improve build, test, and shipping workflows at scale
- Drive platform reliability, scalability, and observability through SLO definition, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
