Agent Engineer
About this role
Join an early-stage AI startup as an Agent Engineer to design and build core capabilities of an AI assistant for executives and founders. You'll work across agent systems, platform engineering, and integrations—owning the full stack from Python agent logic through production operations to shape what the product can reliably do.
What you'll do
- Build and evolve a custom Python agent harness with execution loops, orchestration, context management, and error recovery
- Design agent tools and integrations across email, calendars, messaging, browsers, documents, CRMs, and business software
- Own end-to-end capabilities spanning Python agents, Django services, React interfaces, data models, and production operations
- Research advances in reasoning, planning, memory, and agent collaboration to identify product opportunities
- Improve latency, cost, reliability, and safety across high-volume agent execution in production
- Partner with evaluations team to define behavior, instrument capabilities, and turn quality findings into engineering improvements

- Python and Django expertise with production-grade asynchronous systems
- Agent systems architecture including planning, tool calling, structured outputs, and orchestration
- Full-stack development with React and TypeScript
- API design and integration with external platforms
- Debugging across prompts, traces, model outputs, and production systems
- Platform abstraction design for composition and extensibility
- LLM-based systems and prompt engineering
- Distributed systems and workflow automation
