Clera
Founding Engineer
About this role
Join a fast-growing AI startup as a founding engineer owning an entire product domain—B2B product, agent quality, family graph infrastructure, or B2C consumer product. You'll ship multi-modal AI agents across voice, SMS, and email with direct customer engagement and zero PM layer between you and decisions.
What you'll do
- Own one core product domain end-to-end, from architecture through production shipping
- Participate in customer calls, gather feedback, and make independent product decisions
- Build and optimize multi-modal agents targeting sub-500ms voice latency and high SMS response rates
- Define quality standards for non-deterministic systems including evals, prompt versioning, and drift detection
- Work full-stack across React/Next.js, Node.js, and Python voice services
- Maintain long-running conversation state management across multiple communication channels
What they're looking for
- Full-stack TypeScript with Node.js and React/Next.js
- LLM APIs and agent SDKs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Vercel AI SDK, Mastra)
- Production voice or SMS agent systems
- Agent state management and memory architectures
- Python with real-time voice pipelines (LiveKit, Deepgram, STT/TTS)
- B2B2C or marketplace product architecture
- Agent evals, guardrails, and prompt versioning
- Infrastructure tools (Redis, BullMQ, Vercel, Render, Sentry, PostHog)
Benefits
- Equity stake given founding-team role
- Full-stack ownership of a product domain
- Direct customer interaction and product decision-making authority
- 5-day on-site work week in Chelsea, NYC
- Early-stage startup environment with high autonomy
