About this role
Cloudflare seeks a Systems Engineer to design and operate backend services, APIs, and infrastructure powering their internal support and admin platform. You'll work at enterprise scale with cross-functional teams including Support, Legal, and Security, balancing technical rigor with operational needs.
What you'll do
- Design and operate backend services, APIs, and integrations for Cloudflare's internal support and admin platform at global scale
- Partner with engineering teams to onboard applications onto the platform with proper governance and scalability
- Engage with non-technical stakeholders (Support, Legal, Security) to translate operational needs into platform capabilities
- Own security and authorization posture, implementing access controls and compliance standards across the platform
- Navigate unfamiliar and legacy codebases, improve reliability and reduce operational toil
- Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, and drive reliability improvements through post-incident reviews

- Backend service design and operation (5+ years at enterprise scale)
- Go and/or TypeScript proficiency
- Platform engineering and internal tooling experience
- Authorization systems (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, OPA/Rego, RBAC)
