About this role

A forward-deployed data engineering role supporting U.S. Department of Defense missions by building and operating data platforms in classified environments. You'll deploy the UDS Data Capability stack, integrate with legacy government systems, and maintain production data infrastructure while working closely with military operators and program engineers, primarily remotely with occasional on-site travel.

What you'll do

  • Deploy and configure UDS Data Capability components including storage, data transit, governance policies, and streaming infrastructure
  • Integrate with legacy government systems, databases, SOAP/REST endpoints, and identity providers
  • Map complex data landscapes across hundreds of interconnected systems with overlapping schemas
  • Build data pipelines that move data across classification boundaries with proper provenance tracking
  • Operate deployed systems including capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/restore, and incident response
  • Generate accreditation artifacts including STIG evidence and compliance documentation for IL4/IL5 environments

What they're looking for

  • Data platform architecture and deployment (storage, ingestion, streaming, governance)
  • Legacy system integration and data connector development
  • Kubernetes and containerized data stack operations
  • Data governance, lineage, and metadata management
  • Cloud-native technologies (Iceberg, Kafka, Postgres, object storage)
  • Infrastructure as code and configuration management
  • Observability and operational monitoring
  • Security compliance and accreditation documentation
