Hardware Validation Engineer
About this role
DoorDash Labs seeks a Hardware Validation Engineer to develop and execute comprehensive test campaigns for Dot, an autonomous delivery robot. You'll validate electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, and sensing performance across diverse environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the hardware meets performance and regulatory standards.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute test campaigns to validate robot system requirements across electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, and sensing domains
- Collaborate with hardware requirement owners and cross-functional teams (DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI, Ops) to plan and resolve issues
- Design, construct, and maintain test tooling, fixtures, and documentation for validation efforts
- Conduct environmental testing including thermal, shock, and IP assessments across diverse California, Arizona, and Michigan test sites
- Analyze data from CAN bus and Ethernet logging to troubleshoot and improve robot reliability
- Lead test reviews and communicate program progress to stakeholders
