Etched
Applied AI Engineer, Manufacturing & Operational Execution
About this role
Etched seeks an Applied AI Engineer to build agentic systems that automate complex manufacturing and supply chain decisions for AI hardware production. You'll embed across operations teams to develop AI-driven workflows for planning, quality, logistics, and production execution, directly impacting ramp speed and delivery outcomes.
What you'll do
- Build and deploy AI agents for S&OP, material planning, production readiness, logistics, and quality management
- Partner with Platform, Production, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to identify high-leverage decisions and operationalize them with AI
- Develop operational models connecting demand, BOMs, supply, capacity, inventory, builds, and shipments
- Create agents that generate executable production plans considering constraints and keep them current as conditions change
- Propagate design changes across material exposure, sourcing, factory readiness, schedules, and commitments
- Design production quality agents for clear-to-build, work-in-progress tracking, testing, containment, and root-cause analysis
What they're looking for
- Python and code debugging
- LLM-based agent development and orchestration
- AI/agentic system evaluation and optimization
- Manufacturing, supply chain, or operations planning
- ERP/MRP, PLM, MES, or QMS systems
- Constraint optimization and simulation
- Problem-solving across unfamiliar domains
- Hands-on AI tooling and frontier model usage
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage with generous premium contributions
- Access to in-office AI cluster for development and deployment
- In-person, collaborative environment across all teams
- Opportunity to work on frontier AI models and hardware infrastructure

Likely interview questions
- Walk us through a time you shipped an LLM-based agent or AI system to real users—what were the hardest parts beyond the initial prompt?
- Describe your experience with manufacturing, supply chain, or S&OP systems. What's the most complex constraint-satisfaction problem you've tackled?
