About this role
MISUMI Americas seeks a Strategic Solutions Engineer to guide complex manufacturing customers from prototype to production. You'll provide expert technical advisory on CNC machining, sheet metal, and casting, conducting DFM reviews and cost optimization while supporting high-stakes customer programs in the San Francisco office.
What you'll do
- Serve as technical advisor for strategic customers with complex manufacturing needs and lead scoping discussions
- Conduct detailed DFM/DFA reviews for CNC-machined and sheet metal components, evaluating geometry, tolerances, and GD&T
- Support prototype-to-production transitions by anticipating manufacturing risks and ensuring production readiness
- Provide cost optimization recommendations through process selection, feature simplification, and volume scaling strategies
- Evaluate mechanical assemblies including part fit, tolerance stack-ups, fastener selection, and assembly sequencing
- Support quoting efforts with manufacturing-informed feasibility, risk, and lead-time assessments
