About this role
Fluidstack is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to lead electrical design for high-speed hermetic compressor motor drives supporting massive-scale AI data center cooling infrastructure. You'll own the complete power path—from DC bus and inverter through motor drive and magnetic bearing amplifiers—taking custom machines from concept through safe, compliant field operation.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize the electrical power path including DC bus, inverter, motor drive, and magnetic bearing amplifiers for high-speed hermetic motors
- Specify and integrate high-speed motor drives addressing switching, thermal management, bearing-current mitigation, and insulation challenges
- Develop power and protection schemes for test benches and load banks capable of running machines to full rating
- Ensure compliance with EMC, harmonics, and arc flash standards through production installation
- Establish and enforce electrical safety procedures for test cells and live equipment work
- Troubleshoot and resolve power-related issues including EMC, harmonics, and bearing-current problems to root cause
