FluidStack
Robotic Weld Cell Engineer
About this role
Fluidstack seeks a Robotic Weld Cell Engineer to own the programming, commissioning, and optimization of robotic welding systems for structural steel assemblies in a high-volume production environment. You'll drive first-pass yield improvements through data-driven parameter optimization and partner with quality teams to eliminate rework at scale.
What you'll do
- Program and operate robotic weld cells for structural steel, managing fixturing interfaces and weld quality at production rates
- Develop weld procedures and parameters for heavy weldments while controlling distortion and penetration
- Commission new robotic cells with integrators and transition them from acceptance testing to full production rate
- Write and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) documents in compliance with AWS standards
- Collaborate with quality teams on inspection data and implement parameter-level fixes to reduce rework
- Analyze weld data to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement in first-pass yield
What they're looking for
- Robotic welding programming (GMAW/MIG focus)
- GMAW parameter optimization and arc characteristics knowledge
- Heavy weldment distortion and penetration problem-solving
- Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) development and compliance
- Production robotic cell commissioning and troubleshooting
- Data analysis for weld quality and process optimization
- Fanuc, ABB, or Yaskawa robot arc package experience
- AWS D1.1 welding standards familiarity

Likely interview questions
- Walk us through a time you solved a major distortion or penetration problem on a heavy weldment—what parameters did you adjust and why?
- Describe your experience programming robotic GMAW cells in production. What offline programming tools have you used, if any?
