About this role

Fluidstack is hiring a Structural Engineer for their R&D team to design and analyze pressure-containing structures, rotating machinery, and containment systems for next-generation cooling equipment supporting AI compute infrastructure. You'll own structural analysis from concept through fabrication, ensuring safety at scale for multi-gigawatt thermal management systems.

What you'll do

  • Perform structural analysis on impellers, rotors, casings, and pressure-containing components
  • Design pressure vessels and containment structures from initial calculations through fabrication sign-off
  • Conduct rotordynamic and modal analysis with attention to critical speeds, whirl, and magnetic bearing interfaces
  • Design burst containment cases to prevent energetic failures at operational speed
  • Design test cell structures and fixturing to support compressor and chiller testing under load
  • Correlate FEA models against experimental data from strain gauges and spin-pit testing
