About this role
Formic seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer to support and optimize the performance of deployed robotic systems in manufacturing environments. This role combines reactive troubleshooting with proactive system improvements, requiring hands-on technical expertise in industrial automation, PLC programming, and robotics to ensure fleet reliability and customer success.
What you'll do
- Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures to minimize production downtime
- Design and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve system reliability
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including hardware and software upgrades across the fleet
- Provide remote technical support via service tickets and guide field teams on troubleshooting
- Support field service activities within your region for reactive and preventative maintenance
- Mentor field technicians on system health best practices and serve as escalation point for complex issues
