About this role

Formic seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer to support and optimize deployed robotic systems across manufacturing facilities. You'll blend reactive troubleshooting with proactive reliability engineering, diagnosing complex failures, implementing improvements, and mentoring field teams to ensure consistent uptime and performance across the fleet.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures to minimize production downtime
  • Design and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve system reliability
  • Lead system-level continuous improvement initiatives including hardware and software upgrades
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support, troubleshooting issues and triaging to field teams
  • Analyze production data and diagnostic trends to identify systemic performance gaps
  • Partner with Product, Deployment, and Engineering teams to standardize configurations and improve repeatability
