About this role

Formlabs seeks an AI Software Intern to apply machine learning and deep learning techniques to solve complex challenges in 3D printing and additive manufacturing. You'll prototype intelligent algorithms for part preparation, spatial analysis, and monitoring systems while collaborating with core software engineering teams in our Somerville office.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement machine learning models for 3D spatial data, geometric analysis, and automated print workflows
  • Develop real-time computer vision pipelines and time-series analysis for defect detection and system monitoring
  • Profile and optimize model architectures for efficient runtime execution in desktop and cloud environments
  • Partner with software engineers across teams to translate research concepts into functional prototypes
  • Handle unstructured datasets including point clouds, meshes, and voxel grids
