About this role

Formlabs seeks an R&D Reliability/Test Engineer to validate the robustness of 3D printing hardware through comprehensive testing strategies, automated test rig development, and data-driven failure analysis. You'll work cross-functionally with design teams to ensure products meet reliability requirements from concept through manufacturing.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute system, subsystem, and component-level validation test plans aligned with design and reliability requirements
  • Perform hands-on root cause analysis of electromechanical failures using physics-of-failure methodologies
  • Design, build, and implement automated testing equipment for subsystem characterization and environmental testing
  • Conduct risk assessments and contribute to design reviews with R&D teams throughout product development
  • Analyze field failure data to identify trends and develop corrective action plans
  • Manage continuous testing activities and influence product design for reliability
