Support Engineer, U.S. Government Support
About this role
GitLab is seeking a Support Engineer to serve U.S. government and public sector customers operating in highly secure, compliance-heavy environments including FedRAMP-authorized and air-gapped systems. You'll conduct deep technical investigations using Linux and GitLab internals to diagnose complex issues, collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on solutions, and strengthen the platform through documentation and institutional knowledge.
What you'll do
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex GitLab issues for U.S. government agencies and public sector customers in secure, compliance-constrained environments
- Perform deep technical investigations using Linux command-line tools and GitLab internals to analyze logs, system performance, and application behavior
- Partner with Product, Development, and Infrastructure teams to reproduce edge-case defects and drive durable fixes using sanitized data
- Create and maintain clear, reusable documentation and support content based on customer interactions
- Participate in pairing sessions with other Support Engineers and act as stable counterpart to cross-functional teams
- Contribute directly to the product by opening merge requests that resolve customer-impacting issues
