Hadrian
Data Platform Engineer
About this role
Hadrian seeks a Data Platform Engineer to build the data infrastructure powering autonomous factories, handling ingestion, streaming, transformation, and storage of production data from machines, databases, and industrial systems. You'll own the full data pipeline from source to trusted datasets, enabling analytics, ML, and operational systems while ensuring reliability, observability, and data quality at scale.
What you'll do
- Design and operate ingestion, CDC, and streaming pipelines handling machine signals, events, telemetry, and transactional data with explicit ordering, idempotence, and backpressure management
- Define versioned data contracts with upstream teams and implement testing frameworks for freshness, completeness, and correctness
- Model factory data into reliable datasets with explicit grain, identity, time, provenance, and historical tracking
- Own Dagster orchestration, dbt transformation, data CI/CD, backfills, lineage, and offline feature engineering for ML systems
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Operations and Infrastructure to integrate data from machines, PLCs, historians, OPC-UA, MTConnect, and MQTT sources
- Maintain production data infrastructure with on-call ownership, observability, and incident recovery
What they're looking for
- Production Python and advanced SQL with incremental processing and temporal data modeling
- Kafka or event-streaming platform experience with CDC and stateful incremental pipelines
- Snowflake and lakehouse table formats (Iceberg, Delta, or Hudi) including partitioning and compaction
- Orchestration tools (Dagster, Airflow, Argo, or Prefect) and transformation frameworks like dbt
- Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Distributed systems design and failure mode analysis
- Industrial data collection protocols (OPC-UA, MTConnect, MQTT) and edge systems
- ClickHouse or low-latency analytical databases
