About this role

Hadrian seeks a Materials Engineer to lead materials development and qualification across laser powder bed fusion, direct energy deposition, and polymer additive manufacturing processes. You'll own the full lifecycle of materials engineering—from discovery and parameter development through validation and production implementation—supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing at scale.

What you'll do

  • Lead materials development and qualification across LPBF, DED, and polymer additive processes
  • Design and execute design-of-experiments, test plans, and statistical analysis to characterize material properties
  • Develop materials allowables, author specifications, and create qualification documentation
  • Evaluate and implement novel materials and technologies from selection through production deployment
  • Collaborate with process, applications, quality, supply chain, and design teams on materials integration
  • Perform material testing, metallurgical analysis, and failure investigations

  • Root cause investigation using fractography and mechanical testing
