About this role
Handshake AI is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer I to work directly with frontier AI labs and strategic customers, building production-grade solutions that improve customer workflows and model performance. You'll combine hands-on full-stack development with direct customer engagement in a fast-moving AI data business, working closely with senior engineers across ambiguous, high-impact deployments.
What you'll do
- Partner with AI labs and stakeholders to translate technical requirements into engineering plans and drive cross-team alignment
- Build and iterate on production-grade solutions tailored to complex customer needs with minimal existing playbooks
- Rapidly prototype, test, and refine tools based on real-time customer feedback while balancing speed and maintainability
- Contribute to code reviews and help establish best practices for forward-deployed engineering work
- Participate in architectural discussions around reliability, scalability, and security for customer deployments
- Create and maintain technical documentation and frameworks to enable efficient scaling of deployments
