About this role
Support NOAA's National Weather Service by managing operational databases, developing Standard Operating Procedures, and generating technical reports. This hybrid role in Silver Spring, MD requires strong database expertise in Microsoft Access and Excel, combined with general engineering knowledge and excellent communication skills.
What you'll do
- Draft and update Standard Operating Procedures for database operations
- Develop and maintain relational database tables and complex queries in Microsoft Access
- Generate daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports with data analysis
- Manipulate, normalize, and export data to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Create scripts and automated queries to update databases and generate reports
- Support NOAA's Office of Dissemination operations and system engineering needs

- Microsoft Access (relational tables, queries, normalization, scripting)
- Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data manipulation, export)
- Data analysis and technical reporting
- Database design and query development
- General engineering principles
- Scripting (Python, Perl preferred)
- HTML/JavaScript (functional knowledge)
- Written and verbal communication
