About this role

IEM seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead first-of-kind builds and process development for electrical distribution equipment, bridging design and production. You'll manage prototype builds, pilot runs, and production launches while collaborating across engineering, quality, and operations to ensure manufacturability, safety, and efficiency.

What you'll do

  • Lead manufacturing engineering for first-of-kind, prototype, and pilot production builds of electrical distribution equipment
  • Review designs, drawings, and specifications for manufacturability, quality, safety, and cost; identify risks before production release
  • Develop and document manufacturing methods, work instructions, standard work, fixtures, and tooling required for production
  • Drive structured problem-solving using 5 Why, PFMEA, fishbone analysis, and corrective-action methods to resolve build issues
  • Coordinate with Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams on critical-to-quality characteristics, inspection points, and supplier quality concerns
  • Establish labor estimates, cycle times, line balance, and capacity plans; track build performance and drive improvements to production readiness

What they're looking for

  • Manufacturing process development and Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA)
  • Root-cause analysis, PFMEA, control plans, and lean continuous improvement
  • Electrical distribution equipment, switchgear, panelboards, or industrial control assembly
  • UL standards, NEC, NFPA 70/79, UL 508A, and electrical manufacturing compliance
  • CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN) and ERP/MRP systems
  • Time studies, line balancing, value-stream mapping, and capacity planning
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration with technicians and engineers
  • Electrical testing, torque specifications, wire routing, busbar assembly, and enclosure fabrication
