About this role
Lydian seeks a Process Development Engineer to transition ceramic component production from external vendors and manual workflows to scalable in-house manufacturing. You'll spend the first 6-12 months performing hands-on production work while designing automation, fixtures, and tooling to enable repeatable, high-yield processes.
What you'll do
- Perform manual ceramic processing workflows including material prep, joining, thermal processing, and quality control to meet production schedules
- Lead transition of critical processes from external vendors to internal production by mapping workflows and standing up equipment and procedures
- Design, build, and validate mechanical test stands, fixtures, and tooling from CAD through fabrication and commissioning
- Design and implement process automation and automated data collection systems with programmatic interfaces
- Conduct root-cause analysis on defects and yield loss, driving measurable process improvements through characterization and troubleshooting
- Document standard operating procedures, manage equipment calibration and inventory, and establish in-process quality checks
