Origination Engineer
About this role
Madison Energy Infrastructure seeks an Origination Engineer to design solar PV and battery energy storage systems, run energy models, and develop capital expenditure estimates that drive deal proposals. This role bridges technical design and commercial strategy, collaborating across teams to deliver constructable, value-optimized projects.
What you'll do
- Design solar PV and BESS layouts using AutoCAD, Helioscope, and similar tools; optimize row spacing, orientation, and equipment placement
- Run energy modeling simulations and 3D renderings to assess shading and validate system performance
- Select major equipment for each site and evaluate new market offerings to maintain competitive positioning
- Identify and quantify value engineering opportunities in collaboration with Origination and Estimating teams
- Create design packages and technical documentation for handoff to Project Engineering at exclusivity
- Support M&A due diligence by reviewing competitor designs, site plans, and permit-level documentation
