Security Engineer II
About this role
Mapbox seeks a Security Engineer II to strengthen its cloud security posture by conducting AWS reviews, improving security controls, and embedding secure-by-default practices across the organization. You'll work with cross-functional teams to identify risks, fix security tooling, and help engineers build resilient systems across a multi-region AWS infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Conduct deep-dive AWS security reviews to validate compliance with best practices across 7 global regions
- Make security improvement recommendations and work with production teams to implement fixes in AWS
- Review application code in-depth and guide developers toward secure coding practices from inception
- Partner with Lead Security Architect to maintain and improve custom-built security tools and bots
- Work with product teams to integrate secure-by-default design principles into their offerings
- Support risk assessments for vendor integrations and product launches

- AWS services (GuardDuty, CloudTrail, IAM, Security Groups, CloudFront, CloudFormation, S3, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS)
- Application and product security expertise
