About this role
Mapbox seeks a Software Development Engineer II to lead cloud platform infrastructure initiatives supporting 700+ engineers globally. You'll design and maintain AWS-based infrastructure using GitOps principles, migrate legacy systems to Kubernetes and ArgoCD, architect CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, and champion observability and operational excellence across the platform.
What you'll do
- Onboard AWS resources to declarative Terraform/Terragrunt-based GitOps framework
- Maintain and troubleshoot legacy CloudFormation/CDK infrastructure including ECS, Lambda, and EMR
- Architect Kubernetes deployments and lead ECS-to-EKS migration initiatives
- Design centralized CI/CD pipeline framework using GitHub Actions and Runs-on
- Configure and maintain observability platforms like Datadog or Observe for real-time monitoring
- Provide on-call support and promote operational excellence through testing and documentation
