About this role
Join Mapbox's Navigation team as a Software Development Engineer II to design and operate routing services at scale. You'll tackle complex routing challenges using Rust, build customizable solutions for diverse customers, and help power navigation across consumer, automotive, and logistics platforms.
What you'll do
- Design and develop large-scale, low-latency routing services in Rust
- Solve complex routing scenarios and optimize for diverse use cases
- Build customizable routing solutions for OEMs and niche customers
- Operate and maintain services with on-call rotation responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on distributed systems and geospatial problems
- Develop tools and APIs for others to build innovative mapping and navigation solutions
What they're looking for
- Rust programming (3+ years commercial or open source)
- Distributed systems and fault-tolerance patterns
- AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM)
- Large-scale, low-latency backend service design
- Infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines
- Operating systems and service architecture knowledge
- Modern AI development tools and practices
- Go or modern C++ (preferred)
