About this role

Northwood Space seeks a Ground Software Engineer to develop mission-critical software for satellite command and telemetry systems. You'll design data pipelines that process CCSDS protocols, connect ground station infrastructure to spacecraft operators, and ensure reliable real-time communication across a global network of phased array ground stations.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain software for ingesting, processing, and routing telemetry, tracking, and command data
  • Implement and validate CCSDS protocols including space packets, transfer frames, and data encapsulation
  • Develop high-performance data pipelines connecting software-defined radios and ground-station infrastructure
  • Build tooling for packet parsing, frame validation, buffering, recording, replay, and debugging
  • Collaborate with DSP and FPGA engineers to define interfaces between physical-layer and higher-level communications software
  • Own software through development, deployment, validation, and operational mission support
