AI Applications Engineer

About this role

Notion seeks an AI Applications Engineer to build and scale AI-driven solutions for internal business teams (GTM, Finance, People). You'll own end-to-end AI projects from problem discovery through production deployment, while creating reusable frameworks and guardrails for sustainable AI delivery across the organization.

What you'll do

• Partner with GTM, Finance, and People teams to identify AI opportunities and translate them into scoped, measurable solutions
• Build and deploy complete AI applications including data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and production rollout
• Establish evaluation metrics, monitoring systems, and human-in-the-loop patterns for reliable scaled AI solutions
• Create reusable components, tooling, templates, and playbooks to accelerate future AI projects
• Navigate integration with enterprise systems (CRM, finance, ticketing, HRIS) to deliver reliable outcomes
• Ensure security, privacy, and governance compliance for AI systems including access controls and auditability

What they're looking for

• 4-8 years software or data engineering with production system experience
• Production AI/ML development with LLMs, prompt orchestration, retrieval, and evaluation
• Production-readiness practices: observability, monitoring, incident response, safe rollouts
• API and data pipeline integration across enterprise tools
• AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude, etc.)
• Security, privacy, and AI governance fundamentals
• Clear communication across technical and business stakeholders
• Problem-solving in ambiguous, complex domains
