Project Traffic Engineer - Rail
About this role
Olsson seeks a Project Traffic Engineer for its Rail Traffic team to combine traffic engineering expertise with railroad coordination and project delivery. You'll conduct traffic analysis and design work on safety and mobility projects nationwide, working directly with Class I railroads, state DOTs, and local agencies while developing both technical and project management capabilities.
What you'll do
- Conduct site visits and observations for traffic and preemption analysis projects
- Review and prepare traffic signal preemption designs, grade crossing safety designs, and operations studies
- Collaborate with team members and consultants on complex multimodal projects
- Interact directly with clients including railroads, DOTs, and local agencies
- Contribute to project coordination and delivery activities with ownership mindset
- Travel occasionally to job sites for field observations and client meetings
