About this role

OpenAI seeks an experienced Firmware Engineer to design and optimize embedded software for consumer devices, working closely with hardware teams to deliver high-performance, production-ready systems. The role involves low-level bring-up, C/C++ development, debugging, and performance optimization across the product lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and debug embedded device software
  • Perform board bring-up and low-level debugging on new hardware
  • Define software requirements, interfaces, and test plans
  • Optimize performance, memory usage, and power consumption
  • Investigate field issues and perform root-cause analysis
  • Advocate for software engineering best practices
