About this role

OpenAI seeks a Release Engineer to design and operate CI/CD pipelines and release infrastructure for consumer devices, managing software delivery across bootloaders, firmware, OS, and cloud services. You'll ensure reproducible builds, secure deployments, and reliable OTA updates at scale while collaborating with embedded, cloud, and QA teams.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for multi-component builds using hermetic toolchains
  • Define versioning strategies, automate promotions, and manage artifact retention
  • Integrate test results and implement test quarantine and failure bisection
  • Build A/B OTA update flows with staged rollouts, canaries, and rollback strategies
  • Implement code signing, SBOM generation, vulnerability scanning, and build attestations
  • Monitor build health dashboards and fleet update telemetry with alerts
