About this role

OpenAI seeks a Security Engineer to protect its infrastructure foundation, including GPU clusters, multi-cloud environments, and AI model systems. You'll design and deploy security controls across hardware, firmware, Kubernetes, and networks while collaborating with engineering teams to defend against sophisticated threats.

What you'll do

  • Design security controls across physical hardware, firmware, OS, Kubernetes, networks, and CI/CD layers
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy security enhancements across infrastructure at scale
  • Lead high-impact projects including checkpoint encryption, network isolation, and secret management
  • Identify and address security gaps through automation and tooling
  • Secure GPU supercomputing clusters and multi-cloud infrastructure
  • Protect sensitive model weights and user data storage and access pathways
