OpenAI
Software Engineer, Codex Enterprise
About this role
Join OpenAI's Codex Enterprise team to build production-grade AI software engineering capabilities for organizations worldwide. You'll design end-to-end systems, enterprise primitives, and ecosystem features that enable teams to deploy and operate Codex reliably at scale, working directly with customers to translate real-world needs into robust platform solutions.
What you'll do
- Identify how teams use AI-powered software engineering and drive product, infrastructure, and ecosystem improvements to increase Codex reliability
- Build core ecosystem and enterprise primitives including plugins, skills, discovery surfaces, RBAC, admin controls, and analytics
- Design secure, observable full-stack systems integrating with enterprise identity systems (SSO/SAML/OIDC, SCIM) across web, IDEs, CLI, and CI/CD
- Lead customer deployments and launches by working with GTM teams and collecting operational signals to iterate rapidly
- Own systems end-to-end from architecture and implementation through production operations
- Build platform capabilities that unlock product velocity across multiple services and extensibility systems
What they're looking for
- Backend development (Python, Go, Rust, or similar)
- Distributed systems and reliability engineering
- Enterprise identity and access management (SAML/OIDC, SCIM, RBAC)
- Security and compliance patterns (audit logging, data governance)
- Full-stack system design and observability
- Cross-functional product thinking and customer collaboration
- API design and platform architecture
