About this role
A renewable energy company developing ocean technology seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design robust mechanical components and assemblies for deep-sea systems that operate autonomously in extreme conditions. You'll own projects end-to-end—from requirements and CAD modeling through prototyping, testing, and deployment—while working collaboratively with technicians and cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
- Design and analyze mechanical components, structures, enclosures, and fluid systems for ocean deployment
- Create and maintain CAD models using NX and Teamcenter with detailed drawings and GD&T specifications
- Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and validate designs through trade studies
- Lead design reviews, document technical decisions, and drive engineering trade-offs
- Direct technicians in prototyping, testing, fabrication, and operational procedure development
- Support vendor relationships and travel to test sites as needed
