Firmware Simulation Engineer

Santa Clara, CaliforniaFrom $270kfull-timemidAdded today

About this role

Pure Storage seeks a Firmware Simulation Engineer to design and maintain high-fidelity virtual platforms for SSD firmware development, enabling accelerated testing and reducing reliance on physical hardware. You'll build sophisticated simulation environments using tools like QEMU, create accurate hardware models for storage protocols, and integrate these platforms into CI/CD pipelines.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive firmware simulation environments (QEMU, SystemC, TLM) to enable shift-left testing
  • Create high-fidelity hardware models abstracting controller logic, PCIe, NVMe, and NAND media behaviors
  • Design instrumentation tools to profile performance and analyze failures in simulated environments
  • Automate CI/CD pipelines to integrate simulation platforms into firmware release and validation processes
  • Partner with ASIC vendors to validate firmware against RTL and digital logic designs
  • Translate complex schematics and datasheets into abstract software models

What they're looking for

  • C/C++ and Python programming
  • Simulation/emulation tools (QEMU, SystemC, TLM, instruction-set simulators)
  • PCIe and NVMe protocol expertise
  • Firmware-hardware interaction and modeling
  • Embedded software development and RTOS
  • SoC bring-up and hardware design
  • CI/CD pipeline automation
  • Communication and collaboration

Benefits

  • Flexible time off
  • Wellness resources
  • Company-sponsored team events
