About this role
Ramp seeks a product-minded backend engineer to build AI-native marketing and growth infrastructure, including incentives platforms, workflow orchestration, and cross-channel personalization systems. You'll own backend services that power creative production, experimentation, and governed financial operations for marketing execution.
What you'll do
- Design and build backend systems for AI-native marketing products including incentives, experimentation, and cross-channel orchestration
- Develop shared incentives infrastructure for targeting, policies, budgets, authorization, issuance, and outcome tracking
- Create reliable orchestration for long-running workflows, approvals, scheduling, and safe AI/financial execution
- Build APIs and data models enabling personalized content and offers across email, sales, and in-product channels
- Connect marketing actions to measurable business outcomes like activation, conversion, and revenue
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Data Science, and Finance teams from discovery through production

- Backend systems design (Python or modern server-side language)
- Production service ownership and API design
- Data modeling and distributed/event-driven architecture
- Asynchronous processing, testing, and observability
- Governed systems (permissions, policies, budgets, entitlements)
- AI product integration with deterministic controls
- Cross-functional communication and product judgment
- Financial or incentive systems experience (nice to have)
