Software Engineer, Bill Pay & Procurement

About this role

Ramp seeks a backend engineer to design and scale the procure-to-pay infrastructure that powers bill pay and procurement systems handling billions in transaction volume. You'll build financial systems prioritizing correctness and auditability while enabling AI-driven automation across invoice processing, payments, and reconciliation.

What you'll do

• Design and build core P2P systems including invoice ingestion, approval workflows, payment orchestration, and reconciliation logic
• Develop backend services processing high-volume financial events across Bill Pay, Procurement, and Treasury products
• Enable AI agents to automatically classify, validate, and process invoices to reduce manual work
• Extend Ramp's financial ledger to support new transaction types, international payments, and audit trails
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, and Data teams to translate accounting policies into robust, testable code
• Drive reliability, observability, and data integrity practices in financial systems where correctness impacts reporting

What they're looking for

• Backend engineering (3+ years)
• Python or comparable backend language
• SQL and data-intensive systems
• Distributed systems design with strong consistency requirements
• Event-driven architecture and high-volume, low-latency systems
• System design and debugging
• Fintech/payments domain knowledge
• Ability to work with finance and compliance stakeholders
