About this role

Ramp seeks a Software Engineer to build fraud detection, identity management, and account security systems that protect billions in business spending. You'll develop backend services, enforcement tools, and risk decisioning capabilities while partnering across fraud ops, security, and product teams.

What you'll do

  • Build backend services to detect and prevent fraud across account access and payment flows
  • Create enforcement and response tooling for identity locks, payment freezes, and containment actions
  • Strengthen account takeover (ATO) protections with risk-based controls and anomaly detection
  • Design observable systems with metrics, dashboards, alerting, and incident playbooks
  • Collaborate with identity and authentication teams on platform primitives and security foundations
  • Own end-to-end delivery from technical design through rollout and metrics-driven iteration

  • Backend engineering (APIs, distributed systems, data modeling, reliability)
  • Production system operation and incident response
  • Data-informed detection or decisioning systems (rules engines, scoring, anomaly detection)
  • Cross-functional communication and partnership
  • Fraud, risk, identity, or security engineering experience (preferred)
  • Payments or account security patterns knowledge (preferred)
  • Internal operations tooling development (preferred)
