About this role

Redwood Materials is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to develop real-time firmware for power conversion and battery management systems in energy storage solutions. You'll work on bare-metal software for power electronics, including PWM generation, peripheral drivers, and system integration, with mentorship from experienced engineers.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement bare-metal firmware for power electronics control systems
  • Develop and test drivers for microcontroller peripherals including SPI, CAN, and Ethernet
  • Support PWM generation, ADC synchronization, and timing logic for real-time control
  • Collaborate with power electronics engineers on hardware-software integration
  • Write and test low-level code for thermal safety and battery pack management
  • Assist in integrating firmware with broader site infrastructure systems
