McCarran, NVmidAdded yesterday

About this role

Redwood Materials seeks a Substation Electrical Engineer to design and oversee high-voltage electrical infrastructure (69kV–345kV) for industrial substations supporting battery recycling operations. You'll lead system design, perform grid studies, coordinate with utilities, and serve as Engineer of Record for interconnection and renewable energy projects.

What you'll do

  • Design high-voltage AC substation systems (69kV–345kV) and their integration with transmission and distribution networks
  • Develop single-line diagrams, physical layouts, protection schemes, relay coordination, and grounding plans
  • Perform grid simulation, load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, and stability studies using PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, and ASPEN OneLiner
  • Interface with utilities and ISO/RTOs on interconnection studies, permitting, and compliance for renewable and battery energy storage projects
  • Select and evaluate high-voltage equipment including switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and protection relays
  • Serve as Electrical Engineer of Record and lead code compliance reviews (NEC, IEEE, NESC, NFPA)

What they're looking for

  • High-voltage substation design and AC systems
  • Grid simulation software (PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN OneLiner)
  • Relay protection design and SEL AcSELerator configuration
  • Short-circuit, load-flow, and arc-flash analysis
  • High-voltage equipment selection and specification
  • Utility and ISO/RTO coordination and interconnection studies
