About this role
Relativity Space seeks a Manufacturing Engineer I for their Mechanisms team in Long Beach, focusing on designing and optimizing production processes for critical rocket components like landing legs and actuators on the Terran R vehicle. You'll collaborate across design, supply chain, and production teams to develop electromechanical systems, create manufacturing processes, and establish factory operations during the New Product Introduction phase.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize manufacturing processes for electromechanical and pneumatic mechanisms
- Collaborate with vehicle design, supply chain, test, and production teams on component development
- Develop tooling, training materials, and factory floor layouts for mechanisms production
- Support landing leg mechanisms, grid fin actuators, and separation/release systems
- Iterate on designs and processes to support the Terran R vehicle program
- Identify and resolve manufacturing challenges with emphasis on quality and reusability
