About this role
Relativity Space seeks a Propulsion Engineer II to own combustion device development for the Terran R rocket engine, managing hardware from initial design through manufacturing, testing, qualification, and flight. This rare end-to-end ownership role combines thermodynamics, structural analysis, and cross-disciplinary coordination on one of the engine's most critical components.
What you'll do
- Own assigned combustion components across entire lifecycle from design through flight qualification
- Conduct thermal and structural analysis on components operating under extreme temperatures and pressures
- Coordinate across disciplines including manufacturing, testing, and avionics teams
- Develop and validate designs using engineering fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluids, and materials
- Support hardware manufacturing, testing campaigns, and iterative design improvements
- Drive technical decisions and trade-offs with direct accountability for component performance
