Rocket Lab Corporation
Additive Manufacturing Engineer I/II
About this role
Rocket Lab seeks an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize directed energy deposition (DED) processes for metallic alloys used in Archimedes engines for the Neutron reusable launch vehicle. You'll collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to refine printing parameters, improve existing programs, and ensure manufacturability through design-for-additive-manufacturing (DfAM) principles.
What you'll do
- Develop and optimize printing parameters for metallic alloys using DED, hybrid, and other additive methods
- Create new and improve existing print programs with engineering support for AM operations
- Collaborate with downstream functions to ensure print geometries can be effectively post-processed
- Provide critical feedback during the DfAM design process
- Work with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to specify appropriate additive manufacturing approaches and communicate DfAM requirements
What they're looking for
- Directed energy deposition (DED) and additive manufacturing of metallic materials
- Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) fundamentals
- CAD modeling in Siemens NX or SolidWorks
- CAM programming in Siemens NX or MasterCam
- Metallic alloy processing and characterization
- Technical communication and cross-functional collaboration
- Print process parameter development
